The interaction between water and skin is a very complex matter. Nowadays scientific literature is underlining its clinical relevance. Water is essential for skin detersion, basic ingredient for topical formulations, vital part of our body and the most important component for life. Water in the body, as any other component, is preserved by skin and its barrier function, in the sense that it prevents massive water and solute loss and penetration of harmful substances.
